I just recently saw a photo on Tumblr and I couldn't stop laughing.

I mean, seriously. How did that guy get so huge? Sigh. I guess this is just one of those Photoshop failures. You see, people, make sure it looks at least realistic before you go posting things like this on the Internet. Oh, God. The things you could do using technology.

I'm not saying that things like this are illegal, but I just want to say that you have to use it right and in moderation. IT also shows what kind of person you are. I mean if you alter everything a bit too often, it could mean that you're insecure (which is a little irrelevant at this point of our topic, but still). Remember:

Mental Blog

Oh, my God. I can't think of anything to post, actually. I think this is what they call a "Mental Blog". Haha, okay. Screw the bad joke, but really. How can I think of a good Computer Science topic to rant on about when I still have so much to do and it's-- get this-- freakin Christmas vacation! And then, we still have our exams next year and so much projects, this blog being one of them, and I still have to read An Abundance of Katherines. See? This is just not right. Ugh -___-

Last week was just any other normal week except that I lost my files in my hard drive. I almost died. Everything important to me was stored there. Everything, as in everything! Then I remembered our previous lesson in Computer Science which was about the command prompt, in which Sir gave so little time to explore. In the end, I was resurrected and I recovered my files.

Thank you, Sir Tom for incorporating to me the importance of the command prompt. \(*^*\)

On Second Thought

At first I thought using computers was easy, then I entered our Comp Sci class. I was like--

I do not approve of the Cybercrime Prevention Law, as I have previously stated in my former post. This is just to serve as an affirmatively negative post to my decision. Haha :P

Even Stephen Colbert does not approve.

Meep.

Sir Tom gave us a brief lesson on this. He didn't really expound on the topic since it wasn't included in the curriculum, but I tried this at home and I enjoyed it! I felt like a boss B)

I got a little frustrated while using the Internet. :E

 Honestly, I love blogging and surfing. But because of further lessons, and notes on Sir Tom's lectures, I have discovered other tricks. Yep!

Connections

Isn't it amazing to know that computers, technologies, and everything in between can be connected to our lives? Well, it's hackneyed, but it's true. Let's be honest: we can't survive without them! No matter how obstinate we are, we will use these and they are, in point of fact, part of our life.

As a student, techs, I have found out, can be connected to other subjects as well. For example, Ma'am Jen (our Math teacher) gave a project like this one. You can see mine here.

For the past few weeks, Sir Tom introduced the world of webpages and a lot of these signs: (<), (/), (>). It was fun to know that you can create a lot of things using random (not really) signs. The tricky part is when you forget one sign, even if it was (/) only, everything could be messed up.

I was one of the noobs. :) I couldn't remember how to put this one in, that one there, green over here, and blue over there! It was a great thing that Sir Tom helped us out.

I loved it when I got what I wanted to come out. I just hated the typing part! Nonetheless, the experience and the lesson was fun all in all.

Cybercrime Prevention Law

I was watching the news on TV and heard about the Cybercrime Prevention Law. I know it's been on before but I have been deprived of technological devices (dorm television for example -.-) for so long. Forgive my lack of knowledge.

Now, I think that the Philippine government is only concerned about the safety and the oneness of the country, but I think that this law is overdone. Yes, I believe that the internet can be harmful; through this, people around the world are bullied, disrespected, and hurt. Yes, public figures are trashed, humans are hesitant to take not-really surreptitious attempts to change the rambunctious world of the Internet, the netizens become cynical, and much more, sadly. But I also believe that through the internet, we are able to connect with people, share human expertise, extend to those in need, and a bunch of other great stuff.

On another note, I thought we Filipinos had the freedom to express ourselves? I remember our past Comp Sci lectures, it was said that flaming can both be fun and okay. I think that the "cyberbully" is helping the "victim" to change his/her negative attributes on my personal opinion & perspective. Through this, we are able to understand each other and change for the better.

I think it's up to the people who use the social networking sites. "Say what you mean, mean what you say, not say it mean." We are all entitled to our actions. I just hope that we all learn how to choose our words meticulously and to use the cyberworld wisely. ;)

Sir Tom, our super awesome Computer Science teacher, has tasked us to create a Comp Sci appreciation blog-- hence, this blog.

My blog's url is N1001110 because 1001110 is the binary code for letter N, which is actually the first letter of my name-- Nica-- not that you needed to know. Just sayin'.

I'm really looking forward to posting and ranting on about techie stuff, since I'm interested in the said topic, especially now that I'm learning much.
